The QoL team follows the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) definition of QoL (WHOQOL and specifically its WHOQOL-BREF instrument) and it currently contributes to research on mobile computing and communications applied in mobile healthcare (i.e., Digital Health) solutions for well-being, disease self-management, active and healthy aging, and Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) by leveraging personal, small and big data approaches (like ‘quantified-self’ one) in the Living Lab settings.
The QoL technologies research lab has been established in 2010 by Prof. Katarzyna Wac and is a part of the Institute of Services Science (ISS) and Center for Informatics (CUI) at the University of Geneva, Switzerland (UniGe). Since 2015, it is a part of the Department of Computer Science (DIKU) of the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. Additionally, selected studies of the QoL lab are conducted at Stanford University and Stanford Medicine.
